Biography of Altura St. Michael Ewers
Advisory Group of the Maybach Foundation
Altura Ewers brings 15 years successful entrepreneurial and Silicon Valley fund raising
expertise to the group. As Director, International Sales at Biodata AG, a leading Swiss-
German encryption pioneer he developed relations with Daimler-Benz, GM, Boeing,
EADS, Citibank, UBS, Deutsche Bundesbank among others. In 1997 Altura cofounded
A.B. Systems Berkeley, a computer security company, which became Biodata AG’s first
acquisition; valued at Euro €300 million in 1999 after which Altura became CSO,
responsible for sales, marketing and corporate development. In 2002 Altura focused on
private equity investments Navastream Inc., Avestar-IP and BIG HOUSE studios which
grew into San Francisco’s largest digital film and photography studio with subsidiaries in
Florida and Brazil. Altura sits on the board of Takima GmbH, a Frankfurt, Germany
based investment vehicle with holdings in media, real estate, Jamaican Blue Mountain
Coffee Production and water bottling, and the Royal Jamaica Trading Company. Altura
also sits on the board of The Camelot Group, a leading private equity company.
