The Foundation is working to identify and involve mentors who are at the top of their field and who are committed to sharing their knowledge and experience with the next generation of young leaders.

 

Mentor Selection

The Foundation is working to identify and involve mentors who are at the top of their field and committed to sharing their knowledge and experience with the next generation of young leaders Participate in the protégé selection process. This may include reviewing protégé nomination materials, participating in interviews of a limited number of pre-selected finalists, and providing feedback to the Maybach Foundation selection panel pertaining to the strengths and weaknesses of the subject protégé. Mentor a protégé for the duration of the protégé’s project.


As part of their role mentors agree to:
  • Participate in the protégé selection process. This may include reviewing protégé nomination materials, participating in interviews of a limited number of pre-selected finalists, and providing feedback to the Maybach Foundation selection panel.
  • Commit to mentor a protégé for the duration of the protégé’s project.
  • Spend an appropriate amount of time supervising their designated protégé while s/he is working on the project (the actual amount of time may vary by project and will be determined in cooperation with the mentor prior to the project launch).
  • Provide guidance and constructive feedback to the protégé, and support him/her in order to successfully complete their joint project.
  • Make an effort to provide appropriate networking contacts to the protégé.

For all mentors, the Maybach Foundation conducts an orientation session which includes a review of mentor responsibilities, Foundation support systems, guidance on building and maintaining a successful mentor/protégé relationship, and an opportunity for the mentor to address questions and concerns. Once a mentor is paired with a protégé, the Maybach Foundation assists the mentor/protégé pairs and provides guidance and support as needed.
