Protégé Helps Shape Uganda Health Leadership
Maybach Foundation Global Health Scholars project protégé Dr. Conrad Muzoora is training at the University of California, San Francisco this year, while at the same time helping to shape the next generation of researchers in Uganda, where his research continues. Read more in our newsflash.

Global Health Sciences Project with Harvard University
The Global Health Sciences Project is a collaborative undertaking between the Foundation and Harvard University. Drawing on the global health expertise of Harvard University, and the resources of Harvard and the Maybach Foundation, the Global Health Scholars Project works to establish the next generation of global health leadership in regions that are most affected by the global health crisis. Ugandan research scientist Dr. Conrad Muzoora is the first Global Health Scholar and the plan is to expand the project to Tanzania, South Africa and China. Documenting History Under Construction
Maybach Foundation Protégés Nicole Tung and Vicky Roy presented the images they created as part of the World Trade Center Documentary Arts Project at an exhibition held at the WTC 7 building. Photography Protégé Honored with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Attended by HRH The Earl of Wessex, the International Award for Young People celebrated ‘Today’s youth, tomorrow’s leaders’. As a 2004 recipient of the Gold Award, Mr. Roy was honored with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award during the event. Read more in the press release.

Maybach Foundation Honors Edward Norton and Hosts Celebrity Gaming Night
At this year's Cannes Film Festival the Maybach Foundation honored actor Edward Norton for his charitable work. The Foundation also joined with Sunflower Children to host an exciting night of celebrity entertainment at the legendary Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc at Cap d'Antibes, the proceeds from which support the philanthropic work of the two organizations. Dennis Hopper Joins Foundation Honorary Board
Internationally acclaimed actor, director and artist Dennis Hopper joined the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation’s Honorary Board this month to honor his brief time with mentor James Dean, from whom Hopper continues to draw inspiration. Dean encouraged Hopper’s dual interest in film and artwork.
Hopper was the Foundation’s honored keynote speaker at its annual Cannes Film Festival Luncheon May 23, 2008.

David Hume Kennerly Joins Foundation Advisory Board
David Hume Kennerly joined the Maybach Foundation Advisory Board for the World Trade Center Documentary Arts Project in December 2008.
Kennerly has been photographing for four decades. His work has been featured in Time Magazine, LIFE, ABC Good Morning America Sunday, and George Magazine. As Contributing Editor for Newsweek Magazine, Kennerly continues to travel and produce images documenting the world’s most important historic events.
Kennerly’s involvement with the Foundation’s World Trade Center Documentary Arts Project is a testament to the importance of the project, and the caliber of the young documentary photographers involved.

MF Accepts New Protégé
Sbu Duma grew up in what many of us would call disadvantaged circumstances, but his exceptional horesback riding skills and quick hand-eye coordination have earned him the chance to be mentored in some of the world's elite polo circles.
His dream? He wants to be South Africa's first black high-goal polo player, a role model for other young people from disadvantaged circumstances.
Thanks to his acceptance as a protégé by the Foundation, Duma has a real shot at realizing his dream. For more details, please see our press release or refer to our program pages.
